Demisch Denant Presents ‘Made in Situ’ Exploring Cork

Date:

Made in Situ is an exhibition for the U.S. debut of revered French designer Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance at Demisch Danent. Centered round nature and materiality, the gathering examines the designer’s private expertise residing and dealing in Portugal alongside native craftsmen and artisans.

The exhibition options the Portugal-based studio’s first two collections – the primary of which is Barro Negro, a sequence of handcrafted black ceramics, and the second – named Burnt Cork – is a tribute to Portuguese cork, which makes use of the ashes of discarded cork burnt by forest fires.

“The designed items are the fruits of my adventures, explorations of geological and organic textures, patterns, supplies and their associated strategies. Above all, my inspiration comes from human data and sensitivity, linking to and embedded in every particular place,”says Duchaufour-Lawrance.
